“Baby, baby, baby por favor give me one more chance…” Those are perhaps familiar words you’ve heard or said before after a relationship gone bad. In honor of Valentine’s Day today, we feature the love story of singer-songwriter Brian Doria’s latest music video, ‘One More Chance,’ where those lyrics come from. “I relived a trip I once had with a love interest 10 years ago in Santa Monica and Venice Beach that inspired the song and eventually the video.” In the music video, Doria’s smooth vocals yearn for a woman who has walked away, with the California beach and a live spray paint artist as his backdrop.

Doria is a seasoned professional musician with over 25 years in the business, has been a singer-songwriter for over 10 years, and you can also add director to his list of credits as he directs all his music videos, shot by cinematographer Raul R. Leal. His music can be described as easy listening, pop, soul, and organic. “Songwriting comes from an idea fueled by an emotion. The melody, rhythm of the song, and pieces of the lyrics come to me all at once. Some songs come to me in their entirety in the matter of minutes. While other songs take days to evolve into the final version.” Some of his other recent music videos are for his songs ‘Esta Bien/It’s OK’ featuring Christina Amato, and ‘Diamond in the Rough’ which is how he describes himself. 'Diamond in the Rough' is based on his life as a Houston city boy moving to small town El Campo, TX back in 1984. Doria was born in Houston, TX but grew up in El Campo, and since 2003 has been based in Las Vegas, NV. He was recruited at just 20 years old to tour with four-time Grammy Award-winning Latin music band La Mafia, also from Houston, as a guest conga and percussion player two years into college. He is a 10-year veteran entertainer at some of the hottest clubs and hotels in Las Vegas alongside world-renowned musicians like Dian Diaz, American Idol contestant Ace Young, and has toured with Sheena Easton.  He has also recorded on Grammy-nominated as well as Grammy/Latin Grammy-winning albums for La Mafia and Los Palominos. “Music is something I feel I was born with, however, my father did heavily influence me,” he says. His father's musical background began in church at the age of five and he also has been a musician all his life. Sometime during the early 1990s, a teen-aged Doria followed his father to a gig at a Houston night club as part of a jazz trio, and had no idea the evening would wind up being an informal audition for Sparks, a world class master drummer and music scholar. Upon hearing him play, Sparks immediately invited Doria to join his class at University of Houston. In exchange for his scholarship, Doria would have to perform in the University’s ensembles, a gig he gladly accepted. This sudden and unexpected opportunity to study under Sparks was a defining moment which began his evolution, both as an artist and an entertainer.

Doria currently plays with the JV All-Stars (drums, vocals), a three-piece cover band (acoustic, bass, and drums) based in Las Vegas, NV. The JV All-Stars play an eclectic song selection at every show, covering multiple decades of hit music. The three weave seamlessly through many different styles of music, including reggae, dub, ska, modern rock, classic rock, guilty-pleasure 80’s songs, rap, hip-hop, R&B, funk, disco, country, Hawaiian...the list is long and impressive. He also has a music project he performs with called Double Vision which is an acoustic-duo. Doria shared that he will be releasing another song and music video later this year and plans “to keep up the momentum.” His music is available for download on iTunes and Spotify, and his videos are on YouTube/BrianDoria, Facebook/BrianDoria, Instagram @BrianDoriaMusic.  Check out the music video to ‘One More Chance’ below, and Happy Valentine's Day!

Snow keeps falling, we keep slipping, wine keeps pouring, movies keep flicking...and we took it all in! #Sundance

For the first time as a content creator, I felt that I was truly a part of a community. For the past six years, Lone Stars Entertainment has set out to make a name for ourselves and last week, walking down Main Street in Park City, Utah, it was exciting that our name was known.

I'm not much of an eager traveler. When I moved to Los Angeles from Texas in my packed Honda CRV, with my chest up against the steering wheel, I kept thinking that if I was on the horse and buggy heading west, I would be the guy saying "Ain't nothing out there but mountains and desert! We should turn around and go home. Ain't nothing to be found out west." In my past life I probably did turn around. Now, all these lifetimes later, I realize I had to make the journey alone to find my tribe of fellow artists. Artists who strive to live their truth. Artists who write into the wee small hours of the morning possessed with passion. Artists who suffer seeking an ear to hear their pain. Artists who seek the moment, not the past or the future. We write. We rehearse. We shoot. We repeat. We edit. We rest. We share. WE CREATE!

I walked down Main Street with cold toes from sweaty snow boots with no expectations and felt successful. All those days of isolation—writing, editing notes, memorizing lines—and there I was now, meeting fellow filmmakers I've met in the past and connecting with new visionaries who all seemed to carry a torch of brilliance. I'm a very hyper individual and to counteract my energy, I always talk to myself at rapid fire or I'll count a person's words after they're done speaking. That usually leaves me looking like I'm trying to be cool. But the weather in Utah was so cold that, "Ain't nobody got time for that." I'd see someone, hug them, maybe shake their hand a little too long, and forget to talk to myself or count words in my head. I was able to connect with people I had issues with in the past and was able to clear things up. My outfit: I wore a paisley robe under my jacket that made me more friends than I ever could, and not once did I feel out of place.

I'm a filmmaker, dammit, and I'm no longer afraid to admit it to everyone. I'm not rich or famous and who knows if I'll ever have a film at Sundance, but I'll go again to support my tribe. I'll walk those streets, catch a cold, and do it with purpose. I'll sit in those seats and support your dream and vision. I won't feel bad if we can't get into the good parties because Lone Stars Entertainment is the party. We always celebrate the journey! I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm grateful to just be in the mix. A big shout out to Josefina López and Judith Weston and they know why! A shout out to my Mother, my family, and kids...who would of ever thought!

The creating continues.  I'm happy now that I can enjoy the journey and not fear the destination or hold on to what was in the past.

Lone Stars in the building! #WeCreate
