FOUNDERS

Gabriela López de Dennis (Co-Founder/C.E.O./Creative Director) was born and raised in Los Angeles to an artistic and musical family. She is an award-winning storyteller—writer, producer, director, video editor, actor, content creator—and as visual artist has specialized in the arts, entertainment and music industry for 20 years. Gabriela works with USC School of Pharmacy’s production of health education foto-audio-visual novelas (English and Spanish), as freelance writer, graphic designer, video editor, director and animator. Recent projects include Rosa Out of Control (broadcast on KLCS in spring of 2014) and Forgotten Memories (broadcast on KLCS in spring/summer 2015), Gloria Takes the Leap as lead writer, and Infectious Rumors as lead writer and co-director. She was also co-writer of the award-winning 10-episode educational web series Fixing Paco starring Paul Rodriguez. She is co-writer and producer on the feature film Edith & Harvey currently in post-production. As co-founder and C.E.O. of Lone Stars Entertainment, she co-wrote the screenplay and was producer on the short film version of B.O.O.S.T., an Official Selection of the 2016 Official Latino Short Film Festival (New York), 2016 Los Angeles CineFest, 2016 CineFestival (San Antonio) and 2015 Big Latino Cinema Festival (Los Angeles); and a producer on the award-winning #HighlandPark which is now a part of the LatinHeatCinema.com roster of content producers, and took home the Best Webisode and Best Actress in a Web Series awards at the 2017 Official Latino Short Film Festival (New York). In September of 2015, PBS/WORLD Channel began airing Episode One: Jasmine of her award-winning documentary short Overcomers, and Episode Two: Myles has also been released. Overcomers is a docu-series for the American Graduate initiative that she co-created and produced, made possible by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and NALIP. Gabriela was included in Remezcla’s list of “10 Latino Filmmakers You Should Know.” Most recently she released episode one of the digital series Hoop Girls, an official selection and nominee at the 2017 Official Latino Short Film Festival (New York), based on her original stage play, and recently completed the sci-fi short film she wrote and directed, Are You Still There?, also based on her stage play.

Jeremiah Ocañas (Co-Founder/C.O.O./Creative Director) is an award-winning multi-talented performer and entrepreneur. Acting has been a passion since he was first cast in the short film Horseplay shot in 1998 in his hometown of El Campo, Texas. He has played the lead role in the award-winning films Drive By Chronicles: Ghostown, Choosing Signs shot in Cork, Ireland, and Homebound, which he produced in El Campo. Most recently, as co-founder and C.O.O. of Lone Stars Entertainment, he wrote, directed, and acted in B.O.O.S.T., a film which he invested his time and money into for over a year to see the production through. It was a 2016 Official Latino Short Film Festival (New York), 2016 Los Angeles CineFest, 2016 CineFestival (San Antonio) and 2015 Big Latino Cinema Festival (Los Angeles). He writes and shoots music videos for the hip-hop group The Lone Stars with the most recent being Algodón y V.I.N.O. Terry Dennis (Co-Founder/Music Producer) is originally from El Paso, Texas and has been a music producer, composer and MC for over 15 years. He has produced music for recording artists, independent films, web series projects, theater, for his own music projects, and most recently created the music for the documentary short Overcomers scheduled to have its premiere on September 28, 2015 on PBS/World Channel. Terry is also a DJ and it was his love for old school hip hop music since he was a kid, and shared hometown of Texas, that brought him and Jeremiah Ocañas together to form the music duo The Lone Stars.

Raul Leal (Cinematographer/Editor) is a Filmer, Editor, Photographer and owner of Texacali Studios with 12+ years of experience. Born and raised in Houston, Texas with an indescribable passion for filming and editing. Some previous work includes Taylor Swift, Keeney Chesney, Tim McGraw and SXSW Live Broadcating, Studied at Lone Star College for studio production. A once certified Radiological Technician, he gave up his "great job" to continue to pursue his dream and passion for filmmaking. He was the DP on the film B.O.O.S.T., the music video Algodón y V.I.N.O., the award-winning documentary Overcomers and the #HighlandPark digital series. His own video footage has gone viral and was seen on CNN and Right This Minute.

Mario Falcon (Filmmaker/Consultant) As Resource Manager of the Urban Film School, Mario Falcon is an educator and filmmaker. Born and raised in El Campo, Texas, Falcon decided to leave for the city to further his education at The University of the Incarnate Word. Soon after graduation, Falcon worked on numerous feature films, music videos, and commercials before ending up in the reality television world. Bravo, Food Network and TruTv are few of the networks his production skills can be seen. Falcon holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Communications Arts from the School of Interactive Media & Design at the University of Incarnate Word with a certification in Education and Career and Technical Education. Falcon was one of the youngest Latino Filmmakers to be awarded national recognition from the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery with the Office of Latino Affairs for his 16mm film HorsePlay. He was the co-director on the film B.O.O.S.T. currently in post-production.

Taylor Simpson (Editor/Production Manager) is a filmmaker from Houston, Texas. She has worked on several film productions in and out of school, and will be participating in more projects. An experienced writer and editor, she plans on utilizing her skill set to be a dynamic force in the film industry. When not working on a production, she enjoys playing any of the 5 instruments she owns. She was the unit production manager and assistant editor on the film B.O.O.S.T.

Angela M. Imperial (Associate Producer) began producing back in 2002 and has produced several plays and stand up comedy shows throughout Los Angeles and Orange County. She also produced and directed the music video Somos los Tameleros in 2013. Although she began acting at the age of 14 and still continues to act, she has found producing to be another aspect of the entertainment industry which she loves. She began working with Lone Stars Entertainment in 2012.

Jeanette Godoy (Associate Producer/Costume Designer) is an interdisciplinary Arti​​vist (Actor, Costume Designer, Playwright and Social Justice Educator).  She was raised in Inglewood, California and received her MFA in Acting with a Specialization in Costume Design from UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television. Jeanette has performed in Mexican History 101 (Grupo de Teatro Sinergia), 3 Truths, Café Vida, Flor, Plumas Negras, and The 24 Hour Plays Los Angeles (Cornerstone Theater Company), Brown & Out (New York Fringe),  August: Osage County (Will Geer's Theatricum Botanicum), The Revenger’s Tragedy, Trash Story, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television), and most recently in Lone Stars Entertainment's upcoming digital series: #HighlandPark and Hoop Girls. She has styled/designed costumes for Skeleton Stories (Theater of Note), The Women of Juarez, Kiss of the Spiderwoman, Manzanita: A Violent Love Affair, I Killed Pancho Villa! and The Rifles of Carrar  (Frida Kahlo Theater) and Michael Patrick Spiller’s short film, Whittier Boulevard (Outfest Fusion). “Nimitz tlacuiquilia ica noche nohc yohlotzi, ome yocan”- OMETEOTL.

Wallace Carranza (Creative Team) is from Houston TX. He studied at the University of Houston where he produced a variety of comedic skits and dramatic shorts, showcasing a wide range of talent as a creator and performer. He has been part of the creative team for the Latina film festival Señorita Cinema, as well as contributor to many productions including theater, television and film. He is excited to be developing with Lone Stars Entertainment, where his vision for creative and cutting edge marketing design concepts can flourish.

Keila Lopez (Photographer) has been an exhibiting artist for over a decade, both nationally and internationally. She is a photo editor at Whalerock Industries and holds a BFA from Otis College of Art + Design in Fine Arts. She was the photographer for The Lone Stars' EP Dirty West (EC to EP 1) and for the promotional materials for Hoop Girls.
