Interview with Jeremiah Joe Ocañas, Star of "B.O.O.S.T"
September 10, 2015 • By Latino Rebels
South Texas isn’t merely desert and the Rio Grande, or the daily cat-and-mouse game between Border Patrol agents and Latin American migrants. It’s home to families and communities, many of them generations old.
The film B.O.O.S.T., by Lone Stars Entertainment, tells the story of one such family —the Rios family— who struggles to escape the life of crime they’ve come to depend on. Latino Rebels spoke with Jeremiah Joe Ocañas, the co-founder and chief operations officers of Lone Stars Entertainment who plays Bobby Rios, about the themes the movie deals with and the challenges in making it. Movie Review "B.O.O.S.T": Indie actor transitioning to first-time director
August 24, 2015 • By Oscar Rodriguez
GoSkye Productions
“This film is based on the amount of great people who take the risk against violence and fear which takes place now all over the world in the way we live, and make one choice… to pursue a better life for our family.”
If you want to enjoy a unique Latin American drama film based on true events, the short film “B.O.O.S.T.” is highly recommended. The film is being submitted to film festivals and will be released through their website in October 2015.
The film is about a dysfunctional working class family in the Southern part of Texas. A very heartfelt short story of what can go through one man’s life as he faces deciding whether to live with his dysfunctional and gritty family or live a life more connected with his wife and daughter. "10 Latino Filmmakers You Should Know"
July 7, 2015 • By Remezcla Estaff
We spent a few days in Los Angeles at the National Association of Latino Independent Producer’s annual NALIP Media Summit. We already shared the glamorous side: the celebrities, lunches, parties and panels — like when Eugenio Derbez sent a stern warning to Donald Trump, or when Eva Longoria dropped some knowledge bombs, and even when Danny Trejo and Wilmer Valderrama spilled some behind-the-scenes secrets from the set of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series — but the real reason we were there was for the indie filmmakers. The ones making movies with small budgets and nothing more than blood, sweat, tears, and lots of dreams. Read the full story here.

'B.O.O.S.T' filmmakers want to use Crossroads as movie location (Cover story)
December 25, 2013 • By Jessica Rodrigo
Victoria Advocate newspaper, Victoria, TX
A Los Angeles film company has its cameras focused on the Crossroads. Two Crossroads residents and Lone Stars Entertainment are scouting the area for locations, resources and investors to begin filming their next project. Victoria native Cosme Espinoza III and Jeremiah Ocañas, of El Campo, are in the pre-production stages of "B.O.O.S.T.," which is set to begin filming in June. The movie is based on a script written by Ocañas that has been transformed into a screenplay by Gabriela López de Dennis. Ocañas pulled from his personal experiences to tell the story of a South Texas family and its struggle to make things work. "I saw a cycle that was being passed down and was passed down to me," Ocañas, 33, said about the story. He remembers having an uncle who was arrested in Victoria for stealing construction equipment. The film will tell that story and the story of many other Hispanic families. Read the full story here.
